Art can never be understood without the social and historical context in which it was created. Our world is currently dominated by crises and uncertainties. In her foreword to the catalog of the 73rd art exhibition as part of the Allg\u00e4u Festival Week 2024, Barbara Wolfahrt, Chairwoman of the Professional Association of Visual Artists Allg\u00e4u\/Swabia e.V., writes that many works are restrained, presented in mostly grey colors as a mirror of the times. Only a few would convey cheerfulness and lightness. Admittedly, I am pleased that my work “Allg\u00e4u IV” certainly falls into this category. Although most of my works are created against a socially critical background, I don’t see it as my job to point the finger.<\/p>\n
\nI believe that art should first and foremost be beautiful and cheerful, simply to create a balance to the often difficult reality. What fascinates me is that as an artist, despite all the optimism, you can ask questions at second glance, so to speak – is our approach to our environment right? Am I behaving correctly in the face of socially established norms, or are there other ways? Who am I?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
In my works I try to strike a balance between recognized aesthetics that appear weightless, almost banal, and a deeper meaning as required. I want the viewers of my pictures to have the free choice between distraction and a serious inner discourse.<\/p>\n
